Once a month, our satellite shelter provides a monthly supply of pet food to pet owners on a limited income who otherwise would be unable to keep their companion animals. The shelter works diligently to secure food donations so that we can continue this vital service in the community.

Friendship Pet Food Pantry

The new Lincoln Square Friendship Center not only holds a weekly food pantry, it is also the home of the Friendship Pet Food Pantry, which distributes from 3pm-5pm on the 3rd Friday of every month. There are no residence boundary requirements, other than living in the city. Dog and cat food is offered to anyone who is having difficulty feeding their pets.

Irving Park Community Food Pantry

Hours of Operation – Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the Second Tuesday of every month from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Service Area – All of 60641 and a portion of 60618 West of Kedzie Ave. Pet Food support as well.

PAWS Chicago Pet Food Bank

Owners must show proof of financial need and not be looking to adopt or buy a pet with PAWS Chicago’s help in mind. Pet owners must accept in good faith that with the help of the Food Bank, they will be able to care for their animals in a reasonable amount of time.

Paws Illinois NFP

Paws Illinois’ mission is to provide adoption, foster, rescue and temporary food assistance as well as routine medical services at no cost to pet owners who are struggling financially and are unable to provide for their pets.

Red Door Animal Shelter

Food distribution is during regular business hours at the shelter, as well as from 1-2pm on the last Thursday of every month at the Howard Area Community Center, 7648 N. Paulina. Through a partnership with PAWS – Chicago and its Lurie Family Spay/Neuter Clinic, Red Door also provides food pantry participants with $10 vouchers to have their animals neutered and/or spayed. Participants must be willing to get their animals altered in order to be eligible for pet food assistance.

Tree House Pet Food Pantry (two locations)

Food distribution is Thursday 9a-6p. Clients must show proof of their low-income status. This includes Social Security Award Letters, Unemployment Award Letters, Disability Award Letters, Medical Cards, etc.  All animals belonging to clients must be spayed or neutered and clients must provide verification. (Note: If a client has unaltered animals, they may be eligible for Tree House’s low-cost Spay/Neuter Program. For information on this program, please call 773-227-5535, ext. 2)
